Royal Holloway's Volunteering Week celebrates 10 years as an annual community initiative during national Volunteers' Week. Community Action in association with the Students' Union will be serving the local community with a number of opportunities. These include; campus based sport sessons for local schools; activity workshops in local schools, youth centres, and older people residences; and community projects.
Volunteering Week takes place at the end of the academic year, and gives the opportunity to do something worthwhile whilst having fun in the glorious sunshine. In previous years over 300 students (including members from a range of Clubs and Societies) contributed over 1,500 hours to serving the local community.
Local charities, schools, youth centres and community groups are invited to submitt project requests which this year we hope to be inspired by the Magna Carta 800th anniversary. Community Action is already sprucing up Egham High Street with a celebration event due to take place with participants and VIP guests as part of Volunteering Week.
The official corporate sponsor for Magna Carta Volunteering Week 2015 is Enterprise Rent-A-Car with volunteer registration now open. If you are a local charity and would like to request a team of volunteers to complete a community project during the week then please submit a project request form by 15 May 2015.
