EPMS Network and our EPMS societies will be running a series of talks for British science week with help from some of our academic community.

This March 11th-15th join us for an exhilarating celebration of British Science Week! Immerse yourself in a captivating lecture series covering a range of fascinating subjects. Each event, lasting 1.5hrs, features distinguished speakers delving into the realms of Physics, Computer Science, Biology, and Mathematics.

Dive into the mysteries of "The BIG BANG Experience!," explore "The Limits of Computer Science," uncover "How humans domesticated food crops: 10,000 years of genetic modification” and unravel the mathematical intricacies of "Slitherlink: Using mathematics to succeed!"

Featuring esteemed speakers including Professor Stephen Gibson, Dr. Francisco Ferreira Ruiz, Dr. Enrique López-Juez, Professor Stefanie Gerke, and a speaker from the Institute of Physics (TBC), this series promises to ignite your curiosity and inspire scientific wonder.

All the lectures are taking place at the Royal Holloway, University of London campus in Egham. The specific locations for each of the events are specified in the post images.

The agenda for each day is as follows:

  • 18:00 — Doors open with drinks and refreshments
  • 18:15 — Doors close
  • 18:20 — Talks begin
  • 19:10 — Talks end, and Q&A begins
  • 19:25 — Q&A ends, and people begin leaving
  • 19:30 — Official end of event

Free parking is available every day of British Science Week from 5pm to 10pm on our campus. The ANPR Cameras are turned off during these hours.

Each ticket includes a complimentary drink on entry, with alcoholic beverages available (ID required, 18+). This event is designed to engage everyone, regardless of their field of study, making science accessible to all. Don't miss out on this enriching experience!

The talk is open to everyone at Royal Holloway and the general public! The recommended minimum age to attend the talks is 16+.
