Updated 1 February 2023:  Applications are now closed for this placement opportunity.

We are delighted to announce that applications are open for the following placement opportunity, sourced by Professors Hardwick and Meek in the Department of Law and Criminology, but open to you all, regardless of your School.

The placement is full-time for three months - or part-time equivalent.  It is hoped that the placement will start by 1 March 2023, or soon afterwards.

The deadline for applications is midnight Tuesday 31 January 2023.

For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Rosie Meek.

Funding and impact on submission deadline

  • If you are a College-funded student, you will continue to receive your stipend during the placement and your funding date will be extended by 3 months full-time / 6 months part-time to reflect the time you take away from your research to do the placement.
  • If your PhD is self-funded, you will receive a bursary commensurate with a studentship stipend i.e. equivalent to £378 per week full time during the placement.
  • In both cases:
    • You will also be eligible to apply for up to £1,500 in addition to support travel, accommodation, and other expenses.
    • Your submission deadline will  be extended to reflect the time taken away from your research to do the placement.
  • If you are UKRI-funded, you can still apply for this placement opportunity.  However, if you are successful, it will be expected that you source the funding for the placement from your own Research Council's placement scheme.
