The Doctoral Researcher Conference that took place in the Windsor Building on Thursday 2 November was a gathering of diverse minds, showcasing the depth and variety of research across disciplines. Researchers presented their work with passion and precision, covering topics from almost every department.
The networking opportunities were a highlight, fostering collaborative discussions across disciplines. The conference also tackled crucial issues, with discussion tables addressing topics like PhD employability, mental health, balancing a PhD with caregiving or work, and navigating research culture and supervision. These discussions provided valuable insights and highlighted the need for continued communication within the research community.
Congratulations go to our prize winners Sam Smith, Enya Turrini, Rida Javed, Henri Louw, and Isabelle Verhulst.
Big cheers to the helpers on the day – Teale, Ben, Jeanette, Isabelle, and WadeBE who were our panel Chairs, and the staff who helped the day run smoothly – Nisha, Will, Evelyn, Elizabeth and Vicky. Thanks also to our keynote and PhD alumni, Dr Lawrence Ampofo, who runs the PhD Employability course and we’ll be sending out further information and taking registrations for that very soon.
The Doctoral Researcher Conference celebrated intellect, collaboration, and resilience. The event showcased the diverse research landscape and emphasized the collective journey of researchers working towards advancing knowledge.
