If you are a UK student with a student loan, please remain vigilant against scams and frauds targeting student maintenance loan payments around the next student finance instalment due to be disbursed on Monday 22nd April.
Scammers may try to trick you into giving away personal and financial information by sending fake emails (phishing) and texts (smishing), or by calling and pretending to be from the Student Loans Company (SLC), Student Finance England (SFE), or other legitimate organisations.
These organisations will never ask you to provide your personal or financial information via email or text message. If you receive a suspicious message, please email moneymatters@rhul.ac.uk or visit the Financial Wellbeing team in Room 135 in Founder’s East on our Egham campus before you take any further action that might put your money at risk.
If you receive a call from an individual claiming to represent the SLC, SFE, or even the University, asking you for personal information, we recommend you end the conversation and offer to call them back on the relevant official customer service phone number to make sure you're talking directly to the organisation and not to a fraudster.
