If you discover that your start date is incorrect, or you wish to start your programme on a different date than originally applied for, it is important that you inform the Doctoral School as soon as possible so that your start date can be updated on your student record. Your official start date affects both your submission deadline and your funding end date.

Frequently asked questions
Any change to your start date must be agreed with your funding body prior to requesting the change with Royal Holloway.
- If you are fully College funded, there are no funding restrictions to you changing your start date
- If you are funded by the UKRI or an external agency, you will need to refer to the terms and conditions of your funding / contact your funder's administrators to check and provide proof of their agreement when you submit your change of mode application

No - as part of the change of start date process, the Doctoral School will inform your funder of the change of start date so that your funding start and end dates are updated accordingly and they are made aware of your new submission deadline.
- If you have not yet started your programme, we will send you an updated letter to confirm your new funding start and end date.
- If you are changing your official start date within the first 6 months of starting at Royal Holloway (after this time, no change to the official start date is permitted), you will not receive a new offer letter but you will receive an email from the Doctoral School to confirm both your new submission deadline and your your new fundiing end date.
