The Alan Turing Institute are delighted to announce that applications are now open for the 2023-2024 Enrichment scheme.

Now entering its eighth year, the scheme offers students currently enrolled on a doctoral programme at a UK university the opportunity to enrich their doctoral studies by building connections with The Alan Turing Institute and engaging and collaboration with its diverse community of researchers. Students continue their doctorate alongside their current supervisor at their home university, while gaining the opportunity to learn new methodologies, build new collaborations and develop research independence.

For this Call, the Turing will offer a Placement Award only, which requires the holder to attend the Institute a minimum of two days per week for either 6 or 9 months.

Further benefits of the Enrichment scheme include:

  • A £1000 Expenses fund to be used flexibly by the student to enrich and support their doctoral studies through collaboration.
  • a £472.50/month financial award to support relocation or commuting expenses.
  • Full induction to the Turing community and access to training throughout the year.
  • Access to a range of events, seminars, reading groups, Data Study Groups, Interest Groups and workshops delivered by leaders in research, government and industry – see a selection of what is happening at the Institute on our events pages.
  • Opportunities to collaborate on Turing research projects.
  • High spec laptop for the duration of your placement and access to the Turing offices in the British Library (Placement Awards only) 
  • Ability to apply for Turing computing resource including Azure cloud credits and support from our dedicated Research Engineering Team.

Please note we offer an application mentoring scheme to students from non-partner universities and Turing Development Network Award institutions (a list of can be TNDAs can be found here). Further details about the application mentoring can be found in the FAQ document.

 Face to face Open Events:

We are offering a series of Open Events for PhD students to find out more about the Enrichment Scheme. There are two face to face events being held at the Turing Institute

There is the possibility to apply for travel and accommodation subsistence, as no student should be prevented from attending the events.
