Exploding the Archive is a student-led initiative which hopes to explore some of the important themes within archival research and to create an engaging and open online meeting space for PhD researchers working with a variety of archival material to discuss the challenges they are facing in the archives.
We want to encourage conversations about the hot topics in archive related fields where people feel comfortable to ask fundamental questions. It is these which often provide the starting point to really understanding the methodologies behind, and practical applications of theories and approaches. We have lined up a group of fantastic guest speakers from both academia and museums to talk about how they understand these topics and how they are relevant in the real world of the museum and in research. Each session will have a Q&A at the end to allow for discussions and each talk will be supported by a podcast and discussion forum on our blog. We hope to culminate the series of talks with an in-person workshop event to further explore the themes discussed and to allow networking and sharing of ideas.
All the online sessions are free. Tickets will be available on Eventbrite and emails will be sent out with the booking links through the usual admin channels. We look forward to seeing you there!
