What is the network? 

The purpose of the network is to connect and support underrepresented PhD students across the SEPnet institutions. This includes (but is not necessarily limited to) students who identify as Black and minority ethnic, disabled, LGBTQIA+, of a minority religion and/or women.

We aim to create a friendly and supportive intersectional community and to run events and initiatives to provide peer support and mentoring!

 

When is the first event? 

To launch the network, we are hosting an informal meet-and-greet Zoom call at 5 pm on Thursday 25th March! All are welcome to join us to connect with other students and find out more!

How can I get involved? 

The network is being set up by and for underrepresented students (feel free to join our Slack page here: https://join.slack.com/t/sepnetphdnetwork/signup). If you are interested in being part of the leadership team, please email ippsnetsepnet.ac.uk to express your interest and/or find out more. Provisionally, the positions available are: Chairperson/ Treasurer/ Events Coordinator/ Peer Support and Mentoring Coordinator/ Communications Coordinator.

We'll be holding an election for contested positions in the first week after Easter so please let us know by Wednesday 31st March if you would like to put yourself forward.
