RHUL's School of Law and Social Sciences (LSS) is looking to appoint a PhD student as Social Events Officer. The role will involve taking the lead on organising and running a weekly online/in-person fun social event for LSS students (some events will be cross-LSS, some Department specific depending on demand) during the Spring and Summer Terms. The purpose of these events is to improve student engagement with Departments/LSS, to build community within the student body, and to improve student wellbeing.

The Social Events Officer will liaise with the Departmental Student Experience Leads, LSS Student Experience Director, LSS Student Representatives and LSS student societies to develop ideas and ensure student buy-in and participation. However, the post offers plenty of opportunity for initiative and imagination with respect to the nature of the events and with respect to marketing/gaining student buy-in.

The post holder will receive a salary of around £2,000 p.a. and will draw upon a budget of around £2,000. The role will involve a time commitment of circa 6 hours per week during the Spring and Summer Terms.

The deadline for applications is midnight Thursday 17 December 2020, with interviews held on Thursday 7 January 2021 (via Teams). For further information, including the job description, person specification, and how to apply, please see the following link: https://jobs.royalholloway.ac.uk/Vacancy.aspx?ref=1220-256

Please note that the role is not open to external candidates. Hence only those who are presently employed by the College, or who are studying at the College can apply.

If you have any questions about the role, please don't hesitate to contact the LSS Director of Student Experience, Tom Dyson (Tom.Dyson@rhul.ac.uk)
