As part of the PGR Career Enhancement Placement Scheme, the Centre for Vistorian Studies at Royal Holloway is offering a part-time placement to a PhD student to assist with the planning and activities of the cntre. Established in 2009, the Centre has an established seminar series and also hosts other events focused on research into nineteenth-century studies within and beyond academia. The Research Centre Associate would be involved with planning and administering these events and managing Centre communications, in conjunction with the Centre Director, Dr Helen Kingstone in conjunction with Prof. Ruth Livesey. The Research Centre Associate is also responsible for updating the Centre’s social media and web presence, and advertising Centre events on other relevant channels (e.g. academic mailing lists, local historical societies), and assisting with Teams and technology if the papers are being given online. The role provides experience in research leadership, networking and events administration that would be valuable for those looking to progress into careers in academia and the cultural sector.
While much of the work can be done flexibly and remotely, the Research Centre Associate will need to be in attendance for all events, most of which happen in evenings at Royal Holloway’s Egham or Bedford Square campuses.
