Members of the Poetics Research Centre, based in the English Department, are involved in two events next week: the Runnymede Literary Festival (RFest), being held online, and the Paper Ink Print Festival in Teddington, Surrey.
RFest, which is run by Professor Robert Hampson, this year celebrates the launch of Pertinent Actions, an anthology of innovative poetry by alumni of the Poetic Practice pathway at Royal Holloway. It also focuses on the centre’s links with poets in the US and France. Readers include Jeanne Heuving and Susan Gervitz (Monday 13 March, 7pm), Vincent Broqua and Abigail Lang (Tuesday 14 March, 7pm), plus the anthology launch, readings from Professor Redell Olsen, current MA students and sessions on ecopoetics and collaborations on Saturday 18 March. Please register on Eventbrite for tickets and for the full festival programme, or email r.hampsonrhul.ac.uk.
The centre also has a table at the Paper Ink Print Festival, at the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington, from Friday 17 March (4-8pm) to Sunday 19 March (weekend 10am to 4.30pm). PhD students Briony Hughes and Caroline Harris are curating a stand showing and selling limited-edition prints, artist’s books and other material poetry, including poetic tarot cards, alongside poetry pamphlets and copies of Pertinent Actions. Robert Hampson will head a Sunday afternoon poetry programme (from 1.30pm) featuring readers from Royal Holloway and the first anthology from Corrupted Poetry (set up by alumni Nic Stringer and Fiona Larkin, with Michelle Penn).
