About the Santander Universities Employability Scheme

What is the Santander Universities Employability Scheme?

The Santander Universities Employability Scheme has been designed to provide undergraduate finalists and recent graduates with valuable paid internship opportunities.

Interns will work on a project with clear deliverables within an organisation which can be on a full or part time basis.

All interns will be paid £1000 upon completion of the internship.

Am I eligible?

Candidates must be Undergraduate final year students or recent graduates* (within 2 years of graduating)

Masters and PhD students cannot apply.

How long is the internship?

  • This can vary, however, the internship will be a work project with a minimum of 80 and maximum of 108 hours / minimum of 65 and maximum of 93 hours (depending on where the business you are working for is based)
  • A working week is up to 35 hours
  • An internship can be full or part time
  • An internship can span no longer than 6 weeks

Each opportunity will specify the time frame of the work to be completed in the description.

What will I be doing during the internship?

Tasks for each opportunity will vary depending on the type of work offered and the sector that the internship is offered in. However, the work will be project based meaning that there will be a clear goal or task that should be met by the end of the internship.

Internships can be offered either via remote working or in person, in line with government and College legislation

Will I get paid?

Yes - Interns shall be paid £1000 upon completion of the internship.

The intern will also be asked to complete a mandatory survey and in addition, interns will also be required to complete a blog/vlog or case study to document their experience and post this on to any professional social media accounts such as LinkedIn using a Santander hashtag.

Payment will be made from the College directly into the intern’s bank account.

Is there any cost to me?

No there is no cost to the intern.

Interns will receive £1000 upon completion and this will be at least the National Minimum Wage.

It sounds too good to be true - what's the catch?

There is no catch! The idea is that a short internship will help boost finalist’s and recent graduate’s employability. By completing the internship, the intern will develop their skills, get an insight into a real business and have additional experience to add to their CV.

All we ask in return is that you mention your experience on any social media platforms that you have, such as LinkedIn or Twitter, using designated hashtags and if you feel comfortable enough we would love to get some case study/blog/vlog content.
