Student Handbook

The Royal Holloway Student Handbook provides a central source of information that you should refer to throughout your studies at Royal Holloway. You will find a range of useful information in the handbook including details about on-campus facilities and support services as well College regulations, policies and procedures. The Student Handbook has been designed to answer queries that you may have at different times of the academic year, but also provide the contact details of services who will be able to provide further information and assistance should you require.

Terminology

  • Degree Course: May also be referred to as 'degree programme' or 'programme'; these terms refer to the qualification you will be awarded upon successful completion of your studies. 
  • Module: May also be reffered to as 'course', this refers to the individual units you will study each year to complete your degree course. Undergraducate degrees at Royal Holloway comprise of a combination of modules in multiples of 15 credits to the value of 120 credits per year. On some degree courses a certain number of optional modules must be passed for a particular degree title. 
  • Department: May also be referred to as 'departments', 'Centres and Schools'. Students on joint or combined degree courses should view both departmental handbooks.
