In order to deliver on our EDI goals, it is absolutely essential that we hear the perspectives of a diverse range of students across our University. We understand that life can be busy and overwhelming at times, and it can be tiring to advocate for yourself and for others with marginalised identities. However, if at any time during your student journey you have the capacity to get involved in our EDI work, the most direct way to affect action is through the University's Equality Groups, or the Students' Union-run Student Communities.
The four Equality Groups are:
- Disability
- Gender
- LGBT+
- Race
These groups are open to both students and staff, and we are always looking for new student members to join, to understand concerns across a range of diverse lived experiences. These groups are responsible for identifying University-wide inclusion issues in these four areas, and creating actions for Strategy Working Groups to address them in an intersectional manner. All groups meet once a term.
If you are interested in joining, please email equality@rhul.ac.uk.
Student Communities are run by the Students' Union. You can join:
- Black and Global Majority students
- Disabled students
- International students
- LGBT+ students
- Mature, Parent, and Carer students
- Students of Faith
- Women students
