Royal Holloway Volunteering Awards 2024

Thanking students, staff and alumni for supporting their communities.

Throughout the 2023-24 academic year, we have seen an amazing response from Royal Holloway students and staff who wanted to support the local community.

On Monday 3 June we will be joining with our colleagues at Voluntary Support North Surrey to hold the Runnymede and Spelthorne Volunteer Awards. This event recognises the amazing volunteering that has taken place in our community over the past academic year,  whilst also highlighting and thanking volunteers for the incredible contributions made in your communities.

In addition to the awards below we will be presenting the Mayor of Runnymede's Cup for Student Volunteer of the year, as well as the Community Action Cup for student group of the year. For the second year we will be presenting the Bob O'Keefe award. This award was created in memory of Vice-Principal Bob O'Keefe who passed award in 2022 and is presented to a student that has engaged in volunteering in an unusual or unique way.

We will also be presenting awards to students that record 30, 50 or 100 hours of volunteering on our online platform. If you have volunteered with an organisation that is not on our online platform, please record your hours using our online form.

You can submit either a single volunteer or a group for each of our awards. Please find more information about the awards categories below and submit your nomination online before midnight on Tuesday 7 May.

See the information below for details about the award categories

Outstanding Community Action Award

This category highlights the volunteering of a student  or group who has taken the time to volunteer independently with one of Royal Holloway Volunteering's community partners. This could be with a local charity, school or other non-profit voluntary organisation. If you know a volunteer that has made a significant impact on the local community by working with a community partner then this is the ideal opportunity to recognise their contribution.

Outstanding Social Action Award

This category is for volunteers participating in one of our student-led Social Action projects. These Social Action projects meet a genuine need in the community, and usually tie directly into a local community partner. This award could be for a student leader, group or for any student that has taken part in a student-led project, using their own passion and initiative.

Outstanding Global Citizen Award

This category is for students that have made a global impact with their volunteering either by volunteering abroad, supporting international projects or aiding humanitarian efforts across the world.

Outstanding Community Research Award

This category is for a student or students that have actively engaged in our Community Research programme this year, using their skills to support a charity and truly make a difference.

Outstanding Sports Volunteer Award

This award is for a volunteer or group of volunteers that have participated in Sports Volunteering opportunities. This could include activities with local sports clubs, schools or community groups.

Outstanding Community Partner

If you have volunteered with a community partner this year who have gone above and beyond to offer rewarding, impactful and engaging opportunities, this is your way of saying thank you! Nominees can be local charities, schools or other non-profit organisations.

Outstanding Royal Holloway Staff Volunteer

If you know of a Royal Holloway staff member that has been supporting their community through volunteering, please nominate them for an award! Whether they have been supporting the community in Egham or in their local community anywhere in the world, we would be happy to receive a nomination.
