Students with disabilities

If you are disabled, have learning difficulties or have a health condition it may influence your career choice.

The Equality Act (2010) states that those with disabilities should not be treated less favourably in the recruitment process (or in work) than those without. Directgov provides information on your rights in work and the recruitment process.

There are some employers who are strong supporters of disabled people in the workplace, particularly those who have signed up to be ‘Disability Confident Employers' or are members of the Employers’ Forum on Disability. Many employers run insight days or other schemes aimed at increasing recruitment among under-represented groups. These may present an opportunity for you.
