Support for Students who Commute to Campus

If you are commuting between home and university it can sometimes feel a little more difficult to make time to schedule in careers appointments and attend careers events. However, we have a wide range of resources that you can access online to make sure you don’t miss out.

The careers service offers online appointments through MS Teams. Appointments can be audio only or video - whatever you prefer. Appointments are available Monday to Friday during term time and throughout the holiday period as well. That means you can book an appointment with us wherever you might be.

There are two types of appointments. We offer 15 minute, CV or application appointments where you can get feedback on either your CV, cover letter or application. Alternatively if you want to talk through any career ideas or get help if you are finding it difficult to decide on your next steps, then you can book a 20 minute careers consultant appointment.

Visit our Careers Moodle where you’ll find lots of information on writing CVs, applications and cover letters as well as help with the whole application process. You can practice your video interview technique on our video interview platform and register on Graduate First and get free access to lots of practice employer & psychometric tests.

Many of our events run during the day and during term time we have a wide range of careers essential workshops and employer talks. Check out our events pages on our website or access the careers portal to book into an event.

If you’ve missed any of our informative careers essentials workshops you can listen to the recordings here. We cover a wide range of topics including; getting started with LinkedIn, cover letters and CVs, interview skills and writing applications for unadvertised jobs. We’ve even got a workshop on what to do if you don’t know what to do. Our workshops are updated on a regular basis so keep your eye out for new topics.

Finally don’t forget you can always get in touch and ask a quick question by emailing us at careers@royalholloway.ac.uk or have a look at our meet the team page for more information
