Are Study Abroad students eligible to apply for the Travel Awards?

If your year abroad is integral to your degree then you are not eligible to apply for the Travel Awards as the awards cannot be used to help fund travel or research that constitutes a core activity of your studies. Additionally, if there is alternative funding available to support you on your year abroad (for example, funding from the UK government or the EU), you wouldn't be eligible to apply as the awards are to support travel or research where there is no pre-existing funding available. To discuss what funding you might be eligible for, please contact the Study Abroad Team at studyabroadstudents@royalholloway.ac.uk.

You are eligible to apply for the Travel Awards if your year abroad is not integral to your degree and there is no other funding available, but as these are competitive awards we would recommend that you do not rely on receiving an award to support you whilst abroad.

For travel or research which is in addition to your time abroad you are able to apply to the Travel Awards to help fund this project.

Please be aware that you are only able to apply if your travel or research occurs within the current academic year, i.e. from October to September.

Nota Bene: only Career Development Awards and College Prizes are open to applications in 2020/21.
