We’d like students and staff within the School of Humanities to put forward nominations for individuals from our past who you believe are worthy of having the International Building renamed after them.
Who do you think embodies the spirit and success of our university and reflects the humanities disciplines that now reside in the International Building?
What’s the criteria?
We’re looking for historic individuals who stand out for their role in advancing the understanding or practice of human history, literature or culture. Ideally, the individuals nominated will have a direct connection to Royal Holloway, but not necessarily. If they don’t, their contribution should be consistent with our principles of inclusion, our recognition of the strength we gain from diversity, academic excellence and our position as one of the UK’s top 20 universities.
Why is the building being renamed?
The building is being renamed to reflect the humanities disciplines now residing there. The new name will be chosen based on a similar criteria and process used to name the Emily Wilding Davison Building and Beatrice Shilling Building.
How do I submit a name?
It’s easy to suggest a name – check your name fits the criteria and then fill in the form below.
If you’re looking for some inspiration, why not take a look at our college timeline or pay a visit to our famous alumni page.
Who can submit a name?
For this first stage, we are only asking staff and students in the School of Humanities to suggest a name. The whole college community will then be asked to share their views on the short list of names.
What will happen next?
All suggestions, fitting the criteria, will be considered and the College Executive Board will confirm a short list of names. Next all students, staff and alumni will be invited to share their views on their preferred name from the short list of names, after that a name will be chosen and announced.
