This Saturday (6 May) is the Coronation day of His Majesty King Charles III. The Ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside Her Majesty The Queen Consort. To mark this occasion, our Founder's building will be lit up in red, white and blue throughout the weekend. 

We have included details of events taking place throughout the long weekend below.

Thursday 4 May

Our Chaplaincy will be holding a special Choral Evensong Prayer Vigil to mark the Coronation of King Charles III on Thursday 4 May at 6.15pm in the Chapel.

Friday 5 May

We’ll be celebrating the Coronation with royal themed menus in our catering outlets on our Egham campus this Friday (5 June). Enjoy lunch in The Hub (11.30am – 2.30pm) or Crosslands (12-4pm) and dinner in Founder’s Dining Hall (5-7.30pm). The menus will all include Coronation Quiche which has been created by the Palace!

Saturday 6 May

You can watch the Coronation service live on TV on BBC One and on BBC iPlayer from 10.15am. It will also be shown on TV screens in The Packhorse if you're on our Egham campus. Some places in the UK are providing big screens to view the Coronation. If you would like to view the Coronation on a big screen the Big screens showing Coronation web pages provide details of where they will be.

Sunday 7 May

There will be a coronation tea dance and high tea at the Literature Institute in Egham from 1-2.30pm and from 3-4.30pm on Sunday 7 May. The free event will feature a coronation quiz and a dress to impress vintage style competition. Royal holloway Volunteering are supporting the event if you would like to volunteer to help out you can find out more here.

Our Chaplaincy will also be holding Coronation Evening Worship, reflecting on Kingship, on Sunday 7 May at 6pm in the Chapel.

On Sunday 7 May Lighting up the Nation will be taking place as part of the Coronation Conert. Iconic locations across the UK will be lit up with projections, lasers, drone displays and illuminations. Our own Founder's building will be lit up throughout the weekend. You can watch the concert and Lighting up the Nation live on TV on BBC One and on BBC iPlayer.

Guildford Cathedral are holding a County Service for the Coronation of King Charles III on Sunday 7 May at 3pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Find out more

Monday 8 May

The Big Help Out will be taking place on Monday 8 May. To mark this event, Royal Holloway Volunteering will be helping to support a large-scale litter pick in the local community, in collaboration with other local organisations. The event will take place from 1-4pm, with everyone gathering at The Hub, Larchwood Drive in Englefield Green. If you would like to join, please sign up online.
