We’re delighted to share with you this year's book Hello World: How to be Human in the Age of the Machine by Dr. Hannah Fry. Hello World is a collection of real-life short stories that explore the power and limitations of artificial intelligence and algorithms. Dr Hannah Fry takes us on a tour of the good, the bad, and the downright ugly of algorithms that surround us – and of which most of us are unaware.
This year we’re encouraging our community to read and return the book as part of our commitment to sustainability. From Thursday 13 September onwards, continuing students will be able to collect a free copy of the book outside the Library in the Davison Building on our Egham campus or at our London campus Helpdesk. Once you’ve finished with the book, simply return it to the collection point so someone else can enjoy it.
There will be a range of events to get involved with including the chance to hear from the author. In the meantime, check out the video below from Dr Hannah Fry and find out more about the Big Read.
