If you’re staying on campus or within the local area over the festive break, we have created a list of all the services that will still be open and the hours they will be operating.
Wellbeing
Support is available if you need it. Our Wellbeing team will remain available over the break. However, they will be offering a slightly reduced service:
- While many of our University services will close between Saturday 23 December - Tuesday 2 January, and individual team mailboxes will not be checked, urgent concerns should be sent to supportingyouroyalholloway.ac.uk and you can still access help from our external support networks. Learn more.
- Online and in-person drop-ins will pause from Friday 8 December - Wednesday 3 January.
- Emergency support options are detailed here , including mental health crisis lines and support via Student Space (Student Minds). Please note that supportingyouroyalholloway.ac.uk should not be relied on for emergency or crisis support, and you should seek appropriate help from external services or contact Security if you are on campus.
- Togetherall is also available 24/7, every day. On the platform, you can take courses, read articles on wellbeing topics or give and get support from fellow students. The community is supported by clinical experts who keep everyone safe and who you can reach out to for support should you need it. To register for Togetherall, click here.

The Boilerhouse Café

Kimiko

Royal Holloway Sport
- The Sports Centre and Fitness Suite will be open on Friday 22 December from 7am-9pm
- The facilties will be closed from Saturday 23 December - Tuesday 2 January
- Regular hours, (7am-9pm), will resume from Wednesday 3 January onwards.
- If you have an annual peak membership with Royal Holloway Sport, you can access the BUCS UNIversal gym scheme and gain access to over 70 university gyms across the UK, subject to their opening hours, free of charge. Learn more.
Volunteering Hub
- The Volunteering Hub is closed outside of term time, however the Volunteering team can support you with enquiries via email until Friday 15 December. The team will then return in person on Wednesday 3 January.
- Throughout the festive break you can find local volunteering opportunities on their online platform.
Student Services Centre
- The Student Services Centre will be closed on Monday 18 December and will re-open on Tuesday 19 December
- The Student Services Centre will close at 2pm on Friday 22 December for the Christmas break, re-opening on Wednesday 3 January
Library Services
- The Library in the Davison Building will be closed from Monday 25 - Tuesday 26 December and Monday 1 January
- LiveChat and Information Consultants services will be unavailable, from Saturday 23 December - Tuesday 2 January
- Opening hours on other days will be shorter than usual, and you can always check the opening times on the Library intranet page
- Founder's Reading Room will remain open 24/7 with swipe card access
- You can still search our physical collection of materials and access digital materials online, on any device through LibrarySearch
- In addition to this the Library has a number of major databases, which you can access via the Library Resources A-Z
- Outside of the dates mentioned above, you can easily contact the Library through our LiveChat service, and can get help searching, referencing and evaluating resources from our friendly Information Consultants
IT Services
- The service desk (phone call, emails, live chat) is open with normal hours (Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm) until Friday 22 December, and then closed until Tuesday 2 January
- Student Laptop support will be holding normal hours (Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm) during the week, but weekend cover will end from Saturday 9 December, coming back on Saturday 6 January.
The Careers Service
- The Careers Service will be available for online-only appointments until Thursday 21 December, and will then be closed from Friday 22 December until Monday 8 January, when both in-person and online appointments will resume.
