We are thrilled to have achieved two Royal Holloway achievements in the inaugural London Universities Sports Leagues (LUSL) Awards.
Our Tennis Club Club has been chosen by LUSL as an outstanding example of a high-achieving student sports club, accounting for performance, development, accessibility, charity engagement and sustainability,
Royal Holloway Tennis Club has said, 'We are absolutely delighted to win this award. Every member of the club has worked incredibly hard, both on and off the court, and it’s amazing to be recognised for our efforts. Royal Holloway has a proud sporting history, and we are honoured to represent the university and carry on the success'.
Doubling up on Tennis’ success, LUSL’s Sportsman of the Year is the Club’s President, Harrison Clinton. On the court, Harrison captained the cup-winning Mixed 2’s team and competed in both the Singles and Doubles Championships, finishing as runner-up in the latter. He receives this accolade also thanks to his significant contribution to improving student life by making tennis playing and coaching more accessible for Royal Holloway students, as well as his coordination of successful charity campaigns and participation in student governance bodies.
Harrison comments, 'I am extremely honoured to receive the LUSL Sportsman of the Year Award. I’ve played sport most of my life, but tennis has been one that I have always cherished. Playing at such a high level at university is an experience I will never forget - even after not making the team initially. Additionally, Tennis Club winning the Club of the Year Award is a huge achievement considering we had fewer than 20 members only five years ago. It is fantastic that every committee member [over the years] is recognised for their effort'.
