We are pleased to announce the appointment of Reverend Daniel Walker as Anglican Chaplain within the Directorate of Student Life.
Daniel is currently a priest at St Margaret of Antioch Church, Lee near Lewisham where has been since mid-2020 whilst completing his Initial Ministerial Education. He has also worked as a student worker in Southwark working closely with London South Bank University students, and with international students at the University of Bradford. Daniel has great experience of and commitment to multifaith work and academically has interests in gender and sexuality, environmentalism, and global issues.
Daniel says “I originally hail from Yorkshire, where I grew up by the sea, before leaving home to study Theology at the University of Chester. A few years later, I quite suddenly felt a calling to ordained ministry in the Church of England, something that completely took me by surprise! For the last four years I’ve ministered at a parish church in Southeast London as a deacon and priest; this has been a great journey, full of amazing people. I am now looking ahead with much enthusiasm to joining you all at Royal Holloway – I hope to see you soon in the chapel and on campus as I begin working there to pastorally support the life and community of the University.”
As Anglican Chaplain Daniel will work as part of our Multifaith Chaplaincy to support students and staff in the building of communities of faith, where fundamental questions can be explored, and a deep personal search for meaning is encouraged. He will also support ongoing development of support for all faiths across our campuses.
Daniel joins us on Monday 29 April 2024. We look forward to welcoming him to campus.
