This year, during Summer Graduation, we will be awarding individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to their field of knowledge and in recognition of their alignment with our own University values. The innovative work of these individuals serves as inspiration to the Royal Holloway community and beyond, demonstrating how an individual can have a lasting and wide-ranging impact on wider society.
During each ceremony, an orator will give a brief description of the individuals’ career and achievement, after which the awardee will accept an honorary certificate. The awardee may also give a short acceptance speech and join fellow graduates in celebrating their achievements.
Individuals who will be accepting an honorary degree this year are as follows:
- Nadifa Mohamed: Author
- Sir Lenny Henry CBE: Alumnus and comedian/ actor
- Dr Nooralhaq Nasimi: Charity director and founder of the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA)
Professor Jenifer Thomas CBE, Bedfordian and University College London (UCL) Physicist, will be accepting an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of her work.
Throughout the week of Summer Graduation, we will be sharing more about the work of these remarkable individuals and their achievements on the student and staff intranets.
