Kate Wells, the current Women’s Football 1s coach and a Royal Holloway alumna, has received a Women & Girls Special Recognition at the County FA Awards for her work for the Middlesex FA.
Leading a project for women over 35 years of age, the ‘Lost Generation’, Kate has delivered accessible, inclusive and safe football opportunities over the last year, in addition to her work coaching our team.
Kate studied BA History and MA Public History at Royal Holloway, graduating for the second time in 2022. She was the First Team Captain and President of the club as a student, and wrote her MA dissertation on women’s football in England.
“I quickly learnt the importance of community in sport upon joining Royal Holloway women’s football, ultimately inspiring me to take on leadership roles throughout my journey,” Kate said after receiving the award.
“I am very grateful that I can continue to impact the women’s game through my work and I am beyond honoured to have accepted the award last night on behalf of Lost Gen and Middlesex FA.”
This recognition has been welcomed by the Women’s Football Club, who praise Kate highly as they challenge for BUCS league and cup titles under her leadership.
