If you're a new student joining us later this month, we know it can be difficult to understand what information is "official" when it comes to things like events and group chats.
Neither the University or the Students' Union manage or endorse any WhatsApp groups that purport to be official Freshers groups for new students. These groups are not moderated, increasing the risk of non-Royal Holloway students infiltrating the groups and unacceptable content being shared. Unofficial group chats can also be linked to financial fraud and scams so if you do choose to join them, please stay vigilant. If you think you've been a victim of a scam, please contact the Financial Wellbeing team.
Last week, racist language posted in a 'Royal Holloway Freshers 2024' WhatsApp group chat was reported to us. We are appalled by and strongly condemn this behaviour and we have offered support to those affected. Please report any concerns, complaints, or misconduct that you may experience or witness via RH Be Heard. If you have been affected by the above, please reach out to the University’s Wellbeing team who will be able to provide support and guidance.

Freshers' Festival tickets
As a reminder, su.rhul.ac.uk/freshers is the only website where you can purchase Freshers' Festival tickets or bundles for Royal Holloway Students' Union events. If you are looking at any other website advertising Freshers’ events or passes, they are not affiliated with the Students' Union or the University. These events take place off-campus, and you must arrange your own travel if you decide to join them. If the content is not posted by @SURHUL or @RHSUWhatsOn (or re-shared by University accounts including @RHCampusLife), it is not an official event.
