Listening to your student voice is just one of the things that we pride ourselves on at Royal Holloway. As such, your feedback has a direct impact on student life. This term has seen some big improvements to campus that were directly influenced by you. A further change that we are pleased to announce is the secure 24 hour opening of the back gate, for a trial period from
1 December 2017.
This is a topic our students have been passionate and vocal about, and in consultation with the Students’ Union, we are pleased to be able to make this change for you.
The gateway will be upgraded with new lighting and CCTV to keep you safe and secure, with a swipe card system which allows 24 hour access for authorised students and staff only.
Whether you’re heading home from a night out, a late shift working on campus or a late night in the Library, we know that this change will make a big difference to you.
We work hard to improve the quality of life for all students on and off campus, but it’s important to remember our neighbours too. Our relationship with the local community is an important one; we trust that all students will continue to act respectfully and sensibly, when using this access route. We will be monitoring the impact of these changes throughout the trial period. If the impact, on our neighbours, is too high we will be forced to review this decision.
