On this page you will find a brief summary of the latest updates to the library's services. You can find further details on our Intranet pages. Please be aware that we are unable to offer services to external users at the moment.

Accessing the physical collection:

  • All staff and students can access our physical collections through the 'Click & Collect' service. Unfortunately, the service is not currently available to external members, alumni, or visitors. To find out more and to place a request visit our Accessing the Physical Collection webpage.
    • 22/09/2020 - We've amended the time slot and location for collections.
    • 24/09/2020 - We've amended the number of books you can order at one time.
    • 25/09/2020 - We've updated our guidance on the wearing of face coverings when using the service.


Accessing Study space and printing: 

  • Our ‘Click & Sit’ service is available during the library's opening hours. This service is available for Royal Holloway students only who must book in advance to reserve a study space, use printing facilities or browse and borrow books from the library. Visit our ‘Accessing Study Space’ webpage for more information and to book a slot.

Loans and returns:

  • During opening hours you can return books to the returns window in the Davison Building atrium. Outside of opening hours you can use the book return box located on the external wall of the Davison Building opposide the Windsor Building. 
  • You can return books to the Bedford Square reception during their opening hours.
  • For graduating students who may not be returning to campus, we will advise on alternative ways to return books in the future.
  • All items on loan will autorenew unless another user recalls them.


External Users:

  • We are currently unable to offer our services to external users, including alumni, SCONUL users and members of the public.
  • For existing external users who have items on loan, these loans will be extended until the library is able to provide access for external users.

Founder's Reading Room: 

  • We will be making an announcement soon on the overnight opening of Founder's Reading Room as soon as additional covid-19 safety measures have been put in place.
