On Wednesday (15 February), the Mayor of Runnymede Councillor Margaret Harnden and Senior Vice-Principal (Education) James Knowles, unveiled the London 2012 community mosaic to celebrate 20 years of volunteering at Royal Holloway.
The mosaic was created by Royal Holloway students and artists Kim Porrelli and Frankie Clarkson from Community Network in 2012 and was inspired by Royal Holloway's role in hosting the Olympic Village during London 2012. You can now go and see the mosaic on our Egham campus in the Volunteering Hub, at the side of the Davison building.
Later the same day, Royal Holloway Volunteering organised a 20th anniversary reception in the Picture Gallery on our Egham campus. Hosted by Principal, Professor Julie Sanders and Senior Vice-Principal Tracy Bhamra, alumni, current students and community action partners were inviteded to celebrated the hard work and dedication of all our student volunteers from 2003 – 2023.
Volunteering is a great way to build employability skills such as communication, resilience, teamwork, and leadership. It also demonstrates to future employers how you have activley expanded your skillset during your studies. Find out more about Royal Holloway Volunteering's 20
