IT Services are currently undergoing a move away from Sophos (our university’s previous antivirus software licence) to a new provider. As part of this move, our licence to Sophos Home, which allows antivirus software to be used on personal devices, is coming to an end.
On Wednesday 15 March, the first round of licences will begin to expire. If you have Sophos Home installed on a personal device as part of the university’s licence, you will notice that your licence will revert to a 30-day free trial on this date. After the trial period, you will begin to see standard marketing messages appear on your device from Sophos.
Please read on below if you use the current Sophos antivirus software on your home devices
We encourage you to uninstall your Sophos Home licence, so you can avoid receiving marketing messaging. However, we strongly recommend that you install a new antivirus software to keep your devices protected, and help guard against cyber threats.
Visit our FAQ for information on why it is important to install antivirus software, and some recommendations on providers.
