Whilst we recognise that our mental health is something we all consider every day, we celebrate University Mental Health Day to remind our whole community of the importance of making mental health a university-wide priority. No student should ever feel alone with their mental health and so we want to continue to seek to inspire conversations, take action and create change. Now more than ever it is important to get the nation talking about student mental health and how we must all work together to support you.
On Thursday 9 March the Wellbeing team will be in the Davison building from 11am – 3pm, to remind you of the support available throughout your studdies. The team will also have a range of activities for you to get involved with. There will be the opportunity to decorate a biscuit with a positive affirmation, an emotions matching game, LGBTQ mental health resources, positive affirmation postcards to colour in, information about our ‘Home Away From Home’ events and the chance to learn more about the Samaritans and Togetherall. You can also pick up our conversation starter wellbeing pyramid or a wellness action plan, add your MindApple to our tree and much more. Find out more about Wellbeing's programme of events here.
Wellbeing will also be running a bite-size anxiety awareness session at 11.30am on Teams. In this 30 minute session where Mental Health Practitioner Jane will lead you in understanding what anxiety is, how it can influence the way we behave and introduce you to a simple breathing technique which could help you take the first steps in managing your anxiety.
