How do I deal with spam email?

Whilst Royal Holloway has multiple measures in place to prevent you from receiving spam email, this system isn’t perfect and you may receive spam in your inbox. There are ways to reduce the risk of receiving or clicking on spam.

In general you should not open messages, especially ones with attachments, from people/mail accounts you do not know or recognise. Be wary of messages that appear to be from someone you know but that are unexpected or unusual.

If you receive an email that you think is suspicious you should click the 'Report' button in the Outlook mail apps or webmail; this removes the email from your inbox and notifies our security team.
