How do I map a network drive on a Mac?

To map a network drive to your Mac you will either need to be on campus and connected to CampusNet or if you are off-campus using the VPN.

  1. Open Finder
  2. From the Go menu select Connect to server...
  3. In the Server Address box you need to enter the network path of the drive you wish to access. There are:

Drive

Network path

Drive purpose

 Y:

 smb://mydata.rhul.ac.uk/home

 Your personal files

 W:

 smb://myweb.rhul.ac.uk/home_pages

 Personal webspace

  1. Press Connect
  2. You will be prompted to enter your username and password. The account name for your Mac will be pre-filled here. Delete that and enter your username and password. Your username is four letters and three numbers (e.g. abcd123)
  3. Press Connect again. This will map your drive.

Please note some computers will require you to add a domain before your username. If you have been unable to log in, please add cc\ before your username (e.g. cc\abcd123) and try again.

There are separate instructions to map drives for Windows.
