Wellbeing: Financial Advice

The Financial Advice team within the Wellbeing department are here to offer advice and guidance on a variety of financial matters to students. The Money & Funding Advisers, Kate & Kerry, are available throughout the year to provide guidance and assistance to students in need of financial advice. Take advantage of them - the advice will be free and they can help you manage your money better.

Students' Union: Advice Centre

The Students' Union Advice Centre is a free and independent service for all students at Royal Holloway.  Whilst they specialise in academic and housing advice they are also able to offer advice on the broader student journey and have lots of tips to share.  Advice Centre Manager, Serife and Student Adviser, Sophie are available all year round to offer you advice.

Funding: Study Support Grant

The Study Support Grant is an amount of money available to eligible students who are facing financial difficulties. This includes funding to provide students who are at a digital disadvantage the opportunity to receive a laptop that is funded by Royal Holloway. A standard assessment procedure is used which calculates the level of support based on the gap between annual income and essential expenditure.

Study Support Grants can help with:

  • Study related field trips; study based theatre excursions and other course related costs.

  • Travel for study.

  • Employment or volunteering opportunities directly related to your studies.

  • Administrative costs to apply to an external rent guarantor scheme.  Find out more about rent guarantor schemes here.
  • Serious short term financial hardship and where there is a possibility of you having to withdraw or take a period of interruption in your studies.
  • Assistance with payment towards living costs such as rent and utility bills.

  • Additional costs for students with caring responsibilities.

  • Disablity related costs (including signposting to advice about the Disabled Students Allowance).
