1. What is the Santander Student Online Self-Development Programme?

The Santander Development Programme is a project put together alongside the high performance consultancy Sporting Edge to provide students with the opportunity to access an online learning platform with powerful stories and insights from elite performers.

2. Who is taking part?

19 students from our College were selected to take part after an online application process. You can find out more about the students who took part here.

3. What does the programme involve?

The students completed an online course (consisting of eight hours of about 95 videos). However there is access to 840 videos overall that can be watched as part of the programme. These videos focus on performance themes including personal drive, learning mind-sets, confidence, and many more. Once they completed each module, they then consolidated their learning and completed an online quiz.

4. How have students benefited from the programme?

A number of our students have told us how they have benefited from the programme. Ciara McAree, a postgraduate taught student studying Forensic Psychology said:

Ciara Mcaree TM

“This programme taught me how to stay present in the moment and step back to see the bigger picture. It taught me how to visualise my goals and to break them down into manageable chunks".

Beverly Boateng, a second year undergraduate studying Law also commented:

Beverly Boateng TM “I will be better equipped to achieve my goals and definitely more inspired by the people that I have listened to over the weeks”.

5. Are there other opportunities I can get involved in?

Although the Santander Development Programme has now been completed, there are other opportunities that you can get involved in. There is the Santander Black Inclusion Programme which, with the assistance of Finance Unlocked, has created an on-demand learning platform built specifically for financial education. It is a new and exciting learning experience for Black and Black Mixed undergraduate students in the UK. You can find out more about the Black Inclusion Programme here.

There is also the Santander Freelancers Scheme, whereby Santander UK, with support from Santander Universities, are giving to up to 250 freelancers a financial grant of £1,000 to complete projects for up to 250 small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Find out more about the scheme here
