Sometimes life throws unplanned and unpreventable situations at us, and for that reason the university has Extenuating Circumstances (ECs). This year we have made some changes and you must apply closer to the date of your exam or assessment. This means that you will know whether your application has been accepted, you will also know what the potential outcomes might be when the Department Assessment Boards meet later in the academic year. The outcome has to wait until all your marks are submitted, but we think that bringing the application deadline closer to the term the EC occurred, and finding out whether the application is successful, will be helpful to students. Click here to find out more about ECs and to check the first deadlines.

The first submission deadlines are as follows:

  • UG and PGT students (September 2022 start) – deadline for applications – midday, Friday 13 January 2023. This is for assessments that took place or were due for submission (including to extended deadlines) between 19 September and 16 December.
  • PGT students (January 2022 start) – deadline for applications – midday, Monday 16 January 2023. This is for assessments (including resits) that took place or were due for submission (including to extended deadlines) between 26 September and 11 January.
