We have been made aware that several of our students have received a phone call from a caller asking for their banking information. The caller is using our phone number, 01784 434455, and may claim that they work for our Student Fees team.
This is not a member of Royal Holloway staff.
Please do not give any personal details, including banking information to anyone over the phone.
We would not contact you by phone to ask for your bank details. If you are unsure whether the call is from Royal Holloway, please advise the caller you would like to check with someone in person at the University, hang up and visit our Student Services Centre in person or the Security Office outside of the Centre’s operating hours.
If you received one of these calls, please report it to the Student Services Centre and our Security Services team.
If you have been impacted by this scam, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Wellbeing team.
Remember we will never …
- Ask for payment or bank details over the phone. In rare cases, we may ask for bank details via email.
- Contact you from an email address that does not end in either ‘@rhul.ac.uk’ or ‘@royalholloway.ac.uk’.
- Communicate with you in a pressurised way or give an urgent deadline for your personal details especially on first contact.
- Ask for your password.
You can find information about paying your fees, your personal details, student documents and more on the student intranet.
We also recommend you regularly check our IT pages for updates, tips and guidance.
