CampusNet is Royal Holloway’s residential and campus-wide network. It is available via wired or wireless connection.
CampusNet supports a wide variety of network-capable items, and most common devices such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets are automatically supported by CampusNet.
Connecting to Wi-Fi
Connecting your phone, laptop, or tablet
When you use your device for the first time on campus and select CampusNet as your network, a registration page should automatically appear.
If it doesn’t, open your web browser and visit campusnet.royalholloway.ac.uk. This will take you directly to our registration page.
There are two options: Students and staff, and External users. Select Students and staff and enter your username and password.
Once you have successfully entered these details you will be registered to our network. You will not need to enter these details each time you want to use the network, just the first time. If you are away from campus for a significant period, you may need to complete the registration process again.
Connecting other devices
We allow various internet-enabled devices including printers, games consoles and other smart devices. If your device uses wi-fi, but doesn’t have an in-built browser or display (for example, printers), or if you want to use the wired network you can register it yourself at campusnet.royalholloway.ac.uk. You will need to be on campus to use this page.
If you register your device but it doesn't seem to have connected, your device may require a restart. Make sure you turn the power fully off and on again, and your device should then connect automatically. Connecting your device may take up to half an hour, so please wait a little while whilst it connects.
If you experience issues, please contact the IT Service Desk.
Connecting to ethernet (wired)
You will need to register your device before it will be able to access the network. You can do this by visiting campusnet.royalholloway.ac.uk. You will need to be on campus to use this page, and you will need to be on a device already signed in to the network.
If you register your device but it doesn't seem to have connected, your device may require a restart. Make sure you turn the power fully off and on again, and your device should then connect automatically. If you experience issues, please contact the IT Service Desk.
Please note: if you have randomized MAC address features enabled on your device(s) you may be unable to access CampusNet. You should disable these whilst using this network.
