If you’re staying on campus or within the local area over the festive break, we have created a list of all the services that will still be open and the hours they will be operating.

Careers

  • Careers will be open for online appointments until Friday 23 December, then closed from Saturday 24 December to Tuesday 3 January.

GP surgery 

  • The on campus GP Surgery will close on Friday 23 December and will re-open on Tuesday 3 January. During this time you can contact the Windsor practice of Clarence Medical Centre to access services. Call them on 01753 865773.

Hall Life 

  • The Hall Life team is a term time only service, they will close on Saturday 10 December and reopen on Monday 9 January. For practical help and advice please check out the practicalities section of the Living in Hall Guide.

Hall Receptions

Hall Reception opening hours over the Christmas break
Visitors' Information Centre 
  • Open from 8.45am-4.45pm from Monday 19 - Friday 23 December.
  • Closed from Saturday 24 December - Thursday 5 January.
Kingswood Reception
  • Open from 7am-10pm, from Monday 19 December - Thursday 5 January.

George Eliot Reception

  • Open from 8am-8pm on Monday 19 December and then from 9am-5pm from Saturday 24 December - Tuesday 3 January.
  • Open from 8am-8pm from Wednesday 5 January onwards. 
Hub Reception
  • Open from 8am-8pm from Monday 19 - Friday 23 December.
  • Will then reopen from 8am-8pm on Wednesday 4 January.

Hub Post Room

  • Open from 9.30am-5.30pm from Monday 19 - Friday 23 December.
  • Will then reopen from 9.30am-5.30pm on Wednesday 4 January.

College Post Room

  • Open from 9am-5pm from Monday 19 - Friday 23 December.
  • Will then reopen from 9am-5pm on Wednesday 4 January.

Help in an emergency

If you are on campus, College Security operates, and is contactable, 24 hours a day, seven days a week for your protection. If there is an emergency on campus please call the Security Control Centre.

IT

Our IT team are here to answer your technical queries. You can call, use their live chat or email them at ITservicedeskroyalholloway.ac.uk. Find out their opening times, or use their LiveChat service to speak to someone online here.

  • From Monday 12 - Friday 23 Dececember and Wednseday 4 January - Friday 6 January the IT Service Desk and Laptop Support will be open Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm and will close on the weekends. Laptop support will also be available from Saturday 7 - Sunday 8 Januaryin person and online between 12-5pm

  • Services will be closed from Saturday 24 December - Tuesday 3 January.

Kingswood bus (RH3)

  • The vacation timetable for the Kingswood bus (RH3) can be found here
  • The bus will not operate on Sunday 25 - Monday 26 December and Sunday 1 January.

Library

  • The Library in the Davison Building will be closed 25-27 December and 1-2 January.
  • LiveChat services will be unavailable and Information Consultants services be limited from 25 December - 2 January.
  • Opening hours on other days will be shorter than usual and you can always check the opening times on our intranet page. Founder's Reading Room will remain open 24/7 with swipe access. Students and staff can search the physical collection of materials and access digital materials from wherever they are, on any device through LibrarySearch. In addition to this the Library has a number of major databases, which you can access via the Databases A-Z page.
  • You can easily contact the Library, including through our LiveChat. You can get help with searching, referencing and evaluating resources from our friendly Information Consultants.

Royal Holloway Sport

  •  The Sports Centre and Fitness Suite will be open on Friday 23 December from 7am-9pm

  • It will then close from Friday 24 DecemberMonday 3 January and re-open on Tuesday 3 January from 8am-4pm, normal hours, 7am-9pm, will resuming on Wednesday 4 January
  • If you have a Gold membership with Royal Holloway Sport, you can access the BUCS UNIveral gym scheme and gain access to over 70 university gyms across the UK, subject to their opening hours, free of charge. More information can be found here

  • Staying in the local area over Christmas? The Sport team will be sharing a DIY walk and some activity challenges on their social pages as well as the Sport section on the Student intranet.

School Helpdesks

  • Physical School Helpdesks will be closed during part of the festive break from Monday 19 December - Friday 23 December, but during these dates, they will be contactable via email. 
  • They will be fully closed from Friday 23 December - Tuesday 3 January. You can find the email and phone numbers for each School Helpdesk here

Security

  • Available 24 hours, seven days a week.
  • For help in an emergency please contact Campus Security on 01784 443888.

Student Services Centre

The Student Services Centre will be closed on Monday 19 December and from 2pm on Friday 23 December - Tuesday 3 January.

Students' Union

You can find the Students' Union opening hours for over the break here.

Union Shop

  • The Union Shop will be open from 8am-6pm from Saturday 10 DecemberThursday 22 December and from Tuesday 3 January - Sunday 8 January.
  • It will be closed on Sunday 11 December and from Friday 23 December - Monday 2 January.
  • From Monday 9 January normal opening hours (8am-11pm) will resume.

Volunteering

  • The Volunteering Hub is closed outside of term time, but the Volunteering Team are able to support you with volunteering enquiries by email until Wednesday 21 December. The team will then return on Wednesday 4 January.
  • Throughout the festive break you can find local volunteering opportunities on our online platform

Wellbeing 

The Wellbeing department continue to offer support in the break between terms one and two but there are adaptations to how you can access support and we operate a slightly reduced service.

  • Initial contact by teams over the break should be by email to team mailboxes - see contact details in the drop down boxes on this page.
  • Emergency support options are detailed here including details of mental health crisis lines and support via Student Space (Student Minds).
  • The online and in-person drop-ins will pause from Friday 9 December and will re-commence on Monday 9 January
  • Togetherall is a safe, clinically managed online community to improve mental health and wellbeing. Joining Togetherall provides something that has always been important for good mental health and wellbeing: a community for shared experiences and mutual support. The platform promotes a sense of belonging and connection through community. The service is accessible anywhere, anytime, 24/7 and is available for both students and staff. It includes guides and advice for looking after your mental wellbeing - such as goal setters and journals - alongside being able to connect with a community, and get (or give) anonymous mental health support. All services will close for the Christmas and New Year period. From 5pm on Friday 23 DecemberTuesday 4 January team mailboxes will not be checked. During this time urgent concerns can be emailed to supportingyou@royalholloway.ac.uk as this mailbox will be regularly checked.
