Join the Department of Drama, Theatre and Dance for their summer festival of performances and talks, featuring some of the very best of our students' performance work developed in the curriculum over the last academic year.  Events run from Wednesday 3 May - Friday 19 May in various locations around our Egham campus

Every year exciting and innovative performance work is developed by students and colleagues in the Department of Drama, Theatre, and Dance - and in May the Department is throwing open its doors for a three-week festival to share some of this year's highlights. What's more, the Department has invited leading names in the world of theatre and performance to come in for early evening talks on their careers and their craft.

The festival opens with a brand-new musical created by Professor Dan Rebellato and his collaborator in the Department of Music, Dr Tom Parkinson, and performed by students from not only Drama but across the School of Performing and Digital Arts. There are also adaptations of Little Women and a dark variant of the Cinderella story, new work on the climate crisis and on consent, and a boundary-smashing immersive/gig theatre/spoken word rave in the Caryl Churchill Theatre! Speakers for the public talks include Eddie Izzard's recent collaborator Didi Hopkins, Tim Etchells of the hugely influential theatre company Forced Entertainment, and two Drama alumni who have gone on to write plays for such venues as the Almeida Theatre, Theatre by the Lake, and the National Theatre.

Dr Emma Cox, Head of the Department of Drama, Theatre, and Dance, said, "We are delighted to welcome the wider College community into our performance spaces and share some of our excellent undergraduate creative work, as well as work from our MA Directing programme which is led by world-leading theatre director Katie Mitchell. This is also an exciting moment for our students to share their work with guest industry professionals, who will be coming in throughout the festival to give feedback and to network."

All events in the festival are free and open to everyone. Places are limited, however, so book soon at Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/summer-term-festival-2023-2089409
