Royal Holloway University & The University of Law Future Lawyers Scholarship 2024

As part of the collaborative partnership between Royal Holloway & The University of Law, every Royal Holloway student joining a programme at the University of Law in the 2024-25 academic year will be eligible for an alumni discount of £250 off their course fees, as well as a guaranteed place on the course (with the exception of the Bar Practice Course)

In addition to this, we are also making available up to 5 scholarships of no less than £2,750 to students who will be graduating from any degree programme at Royal Holloway in 2024 and who will start a University of Law programme in September 2024 or January 2025. The purpose of these scholarships is to support Royal Holloway graduates who wish to progress to study for a professional legal qualification.

The scholarship will be awarded as a tuition fee discount at the start of your University of Law course.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be graduating from any Royal Holloway degree programme in 2024.
  • Hold an offer to study any University of Law postgraduate programme commencing September 2024 or January 2025.

Meet the criteria from one or more of these areas.

  • Any experience in local authority care.
  • Refugee status.
  • Classed as a young carer.
  • Diagnosed disability, neurodiversity, or mental health condition.
  • Low-income background, including but not limited to:
    • Being in receipt of or living with a parent/ guardian currently in receipt of Universal Credit or other income-based support scheme.
    • Being in receipt of or living with a parent/guardian in receipt of Asylum Support.
    • Eligible for free school meals at secondary school.
    • In receipt of a RHUL bursary.

How to Apply

Your scholarship statement and all other supporting documentation must be attached and emailed to careers@rhul.ac.uk no later than 23.59 on Monday 17 June 2024.

You must include ULaw RHUL Future Lawyers Scholarship 2024 in the subject line of the email.

You will need to write a scholarship statement of no more than 500 words which should include:

  • How you feel you qualify for the scholarship with reference to the above criteria
  • Reflection on any steps you have taken to acquire skills to help you pursue a career in law. For example, any extracurricular activities/part time work/ volunteering. 

Your application will be scored on how effectively your statement answers the above.

Applications which are significantly under or exceed the word count will be rejected.

As well as your statement, you will also need to attach:

  • Your most recent grades transcript from your undergraduate degree.
  • A screenshot/ copy of your application/offer letter from ULaw.
  • If your application links to low-income background, you will need to include documentary evidence of this.

Any late or incomplete applications that are submitted will be rejected.

Applications will be considered by a panel and successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible after the deadline date. Please note that we will not be able to provide feedback on any applications.
