We recently caught up with the Department of Politics and International Relations to find out more about MSc in International Relations.

 

Q1. What areas can students expect to study in MSc International Relations?

Students will receive thorough training in the analytical frameworks and research methods pertinent to the study of international relations. They will have the opportunity to take a range of core and optional modules covering a wide range of issues and geographical areas.

 

Q2. What do you think makes this course different from similarly titled courses on offer across the UK?

Rather than focus on one particular school of thought or theme, the Department has made a concerted effort to hire staff with expertise in a diverse range of issues and geographical areas. As a consequence, we are able to offer a wide array of optional modules and dissertation supervision.

 

Q3. What are the entry requirements for this degree? 

A 2:1 or above in a humanities/social sciences UG degree. On occasion, students with a high 2:2 will be admitted if their performance in the final year of their UG degree is of a 2:1 average and/or they have significant work experience in the field of politics/international relations.

 

Q4. What prospects would students studying this course benefit from? 

The degree helps to develop the knowledge and transferrable skills which prepare students for a diverse range of careers. Students from the degree have moved into careers in the public sector, regional and international organisations, private sector and third sector.
