Care Leavers and Estranged Students Bursary

Royal Holloway provides care leavers or students who have 'independent - Care Leaver' status on Student Finance England with a £3,000 bursary for the duration of their studies and guaranteed University accommodation in their first year.  

Eligibility Criteria 

 To be eligible you must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Be aged between 18 and 25 at the start of your course
  • Be from England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland
  • Applying for a full-time undergraduate degree starting in 2024
  • Be paying £9,250 tuition fees.

You must also fulfill one of the following criteria: 

  • Have been looked after by the state for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14 or
  • Have 'independent - other' status on Student Finance England. 

There are strict guidelines that must be followed to receive this support and supporting documentation will be required. If you think you may be eligible please email the Bursary and Scholarship team.
