Update on Tuesday 12 March

The contractors have today confirmed that they estimate they will close the turning from the A30 into Harvest road this evening (12 March). The footpath on the north side of the A30 from Harvest Road to St Judes Road and the bus stop will be closed from tomorrow (13 March). These timings are subject to change - we will keep you updated on the itnranet and in the newsletter.

From Monday 11 March, drivers will be unable to turn from the A30 into Harvest Road. Access to the north campus will be via South Road. Vehicles will again be able to turn into the A30 via Harvest Road as that lane re-opens. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Additionally, the footpath on the north side of the A30 from Harvest Road to St Judes Road will also be closed. Both the bridge over the A30 and the pedestrian crossing by George Eliot Halls will remain open, and the closest bus stop will be outside the Packhorse.

Update on Thursday 7 March

The contractors have today confirmed that from Monday 11 March, the bus stop  that is located on the footpath on the north side of the A30 will be suspended. The nearest bus stop will be the one located outside of the Packhorse.

Update on Tuesday 5 March

With effect from Wednesday 6 March the left hand lane exiting from Harvest Road onto the A30 will be closed for three weeks.  Vehicles will be able to turn into Harvest Road from the A30 and vehicles leaving Highfield Road will only be able to turn left onto Harvest Road.  Pedestrian access will be maintained.

With effect from Monday 11 March the footpath on the north side of the A30 from Harvest Road to St Judes Road will be closed. Both the bridge over the A30 and the pedestrian crossing by George Eliot Halls will remain open, and we'll update on the relocation of the bus stop once this has been confirmed by the contractor.

The footpath closure on the George Eliot side of the A30 from the island crossing to Harvest Road will still be closed until Friday 8 March

Update on Friday 1 March

Our Estates team have today confirmed with the contractor that investigative work will begin on Monday 4 March.  From Monday 4-Friday 8 March, they will be carrying out a camera survey which will require the closure of part of the footpath on the George Eliot side of the A30 from the island crossing to Harvest Road. At this stage there will not be any impact on the road traffic.

Please abide by the footpath closures and use the adjacent crossing points.  The contractor has advised that they will minimise the impact of the work where possible and will be meeting with our Estates team towards the end of next week to advise of their work plan and impacts.  We will continue to keep you updated throughout the course of the work in the staff newsletter and on the intranets.

Update on Monday 25 February

You may have seen signage indicating that gas main works on the A30 are due to start from Wednesday 6 March for an estimated 12 weeks. We are aware that this will have an impact on traffic levels, as well as potentially impacting a number of campus buildings and Halls of Residences.

Our Estates team are meeting with the contractor on Wednesday (27 February) to find out more information on the work, timeframes and exactly which buildings will be impacted and when. We will keep you updated throughout the course of the work in the staff newsletter and on the intranets.
