As the start of term approaches we have a number of updates from our GP surgery on campus.

Extended hours

The GP surgery now offer extended hours access to NHS services.  You are now able to book a telephone appointment to speak directly with a GP partner on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings after routine NHS GP services have closed for the day.

Download the NHS app

Our GP surgery is now part of the official NHS app which supports and enhances many practice services.  On the app you  can book appointments, access a summary of your medical records and the opportunity to order repeat medications.  You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play.

Introduction of a sexual health clinic

The GP surgery have also implemented a weekly sexual health clinic under the care of Dr Laura Dickinson, one of our partner GPs.  The clinic will provide contraceptive advice and guidance, full sexual health history and screening (including HIV counselling & testing, and chlamydia and gonorrhoea testing).  Certain conditions requiring more specialist treatment will continue to be sent to specialist clinics but the surgery team will always endeavour to provide treatment here first whenever possible.  The clinic are aware that sex is a normal and healthy part of many students’ lives and this clinic will help inform your choices.  It remains a free service for all student patients.  The surgery is now also able to offer Sayana Press – a self-administered three monthly contraceptive injection, which means patients no longer need regular nurse appointments as they can administer the injection in their own home.  More information on this injection can be found here
