There is no doubt that multiple world events over the last few years, not least the pandemic, have highlighted the importance of compassion and how acts of kindness and selflessness can have a big impact on those who need it. I’m sure many of us are experiencing degrees of anxiety and complex emotions at the moment as we struggle to navigate challenging global events.

Here at Royal Holloway, we have a wonderfully diverse, global community, one which we should all seek to nurture and look to sustain us in difficult times.

Respect is the foundation upon which a healthy learning environment is built, and it involves acknowledging the unique contributions and perspectives each one of us brings to the table. It also involves us being there for each other in these difficult times.

As an institution, we have a commitment to support each member of our community. You may already be familiar with the range of support services we provide, but please remember that there is always someone to talk to whatever your situation or need. If you, or someone you know needs to speak to someone, our Wellbeing and International Support teams are here to support all students with their wellbeing. Please email the team or join their daily virtual drop-in sessions, between 11am-2pm during term time. You can also contact our SU advice centre, which offers guidance and support.

Our Multifaith Chaplaincy team is an incredibly important part of our University community and if you would like to attend an inclusive service on our Egham campus, you can find out more about what’s on here. If there is anything you would like to speak to our Chaplains about, you can contact them via the student intranet.

Please do reach out to us through the appropriate channels if you feel you need further guidance or support at this time, please do reach out for help if you feel in need of it at this time, and please consume to take care and to look out for each other.
