The College has received formal notification from the University and College Union ( UCU) that it is proposing industrial  action at 61 universities, including Royal Holloway, with a series of strikes starting later in February, alongside action short of a strike.  The action is in response to proposed changes to the staff pensions in the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).

We recognises union members’ right to industrial action however, we will make every effort possible to minimise the impact on you. Our priority is to ensure the delivery of the curriculum and support you to succeed.

When will the strike action take place?

Notice has been given of strike action on the following dates:

  • Thursday 22 and Friday 23 February (two days)

  • Monday 12, Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14, Thursday 15 and Friday 16 March (five days)

What effect will this have on my studies?

Every possible effort will be made to minimise the impact of any action to your studies. Our priority is to ensure the delivery of the curriculum and support you to succeed in the goals you have set.

Unless otherwise informed, you should continue to attend classes, submit assessments and prepare for your exams as normal.

When we have more detailed information we will keep you updated via the student intranet.
