Name: Katie Batchelor

Degree Course: Management with Marketing

Year of study: First Year

Sport: Wakeboarding

I chose Royal Holloway because...

It's an amazing University and only five minutes away from the main UK wakeboarding sites- LBD wakeschool, JBSki and Liquid Leisure.

An interesting fact about me:

I once played football against Tottenham Hotspur ladies.

Sports Role Model:

Mike Dowdy and Meagan Ethell.

Sporting Achievements:

On the 11 September I came 2nd in Open Women at the UK Boat Nationals and was only 2.55 points off of 1st place! The competition was really tough as my main competitor has been a professional for 5 years now. My result was a good way to finish off the season as I won the UK Cable Nationals this year and I'm the one of the only competitors who competes at both the Boat and Cable events.

On the 4 September I won the last stop of the AOD Boat Tour at Thorpe Lakes and also won the overall AOD Open Women's tour title.

The competition season has come to an end now but I'm still getting some training in at the lake alongside some gym work for the winter.

Here are some more of my achievements:

2016 UK National cable Wakeboard Champion- Open women/pro

2016 UK national boat wakeboard championships- 2nd place

2016 IWWF boat wakeboard championships- 6th place

2015 WWA wake park world champion- junior women- Abu Dhabi

2013 IWWF Boat European wakeboard champion- junior women

Represented Team GB at 10 international competitions

Sporting Goals:

I want to compete at the invitational only IWWF wakeboard world cup and on the WWA Pro wakeboard tour. I also want to keep pushing myself in the sport and helping others in wakeboarding and get into national coaching.

Aims for 2016/2017:

My aims are to be selected to represent Team GB at the 2017 world wakeboard championships in Columbia, to get good grades in my academic modules and to be the first British woman to land a heel front, raley or 720 behind the boat.
